When Julia Gillard became Australia’s first female prime minister in 2010 it seemed as though the country had smashed through the ultimate glass ceiling.

Last week while visiting the Tate Modern in London, I pondered a poster by feminist group Guerilla Girls  —  “The Advantages of Being a Woman Artist“ — and chuckled along with it.
