Former ASX 200 CEO Laura McBain headed for Maggie Beer

Laura McBain, the former CEO of ASX-listed Bellamy’s, is making the shift from baby products to cooking.

She’s been named as the new managing director of Primary Opinion, which owns a 48% stake in Maggie Beer Products.

Laura left Bellamy’s earlier this year.

The move sees Laura also becoming a major shareholder in Primary Opinion, according to Australian Financial Review, with the firm pushing a major expansion of Maggie Beer Products.

Former Victorian Premier Jeff Kennett also owns a stake in Primary Opinion, and said Laura’s experience at Bellamy’s — which has experienced some challenging times under her tenure — would serve her well in the new position. Primary’s chairman Tony Robinson said Laura is an “exceptional entrepreneur“.

Primary Opinion experienced a surge in its share price following the announcement of Laura’s appointment.

Celebrity cook Maggie Beer and her husband Colin sold the significant stake in their company to Primary Opinion last year, after recording more than $21 million in revenue in the 2014/15 financial year.
