Pioneering workplace gender equality leader Helen Conway has been appointed Board Chair at KU Children’s Services, a leading provider of not-for-profit, community-based early learning services.
“I am thrilled to be appointed as Board Chair of KU Children’s Services and look forward to growing the supportive, inclusive and innovative workplace environment the organisation has cultivated over many years,” Conway said.
As a founding Director of the Australia Gender Equality Council and former CEO of the Workplace Gender Equality Agency, Conway has prominent experience in paving an equitable path forward for women in the workplace.
She’s a seasoned non-executive director with a rich career in law, corporate leadership, and government. Her board career extends over a period of more than 20 years including being the Chair of a number of organisations.
“The Early Childhood Education sector has an enormous responsibility when it comes to providing the foundation for growth and development of the current and future generations of Australian children,” Conway said.
“We have a great opportunity to continue to set the standard, with integrity and a deep commitment to what is best for children.”
“I look forward to supporting KU Children’s Services as Chair, to navigate what is an increasingly complex and competitive sector, while remaining true to our values, mission and purpose.”
KU Children’s Services has over 130 services programmes operating across Australia, specialising in long day care, kindergarten, preschool, family services, early intervention services and adult migrant education programs.
The organisation said they selected Conway as Chair Board with a vision to expand its renowned work in the sector, including empowering families to access affordable, high quality education and care for their children.
KU Children’s Services Chief Executive Officer Christine Legg said that “KU has consistently led when it comes to early childhood education reform and workplace best practices” and that she looks forward to expanding on this work with Conway.
