Kerri Hayman has been appointed Domino’s Pizza‘s first ever female CEO of its ANZ division. Hayman, who has been the COO of the company’s ANZ division since October 2023, will replace former ANZ CEO David Burness.
On her socials, Hayman described her appointment as “exciting day for me.”
“Having grown up in the business here in Australia from a young age, it is such an honour to be stepping into the CEO role,” she said on LinkedIn. “We have so many passionate Franchise partners and team members in ANZ and I feel honoured to work alongside each and every one.”
Hayman began her career in the industry as a pizza maker in the late 80s. At the time, she was working for her brother Donald Meij, who was then a store manager before he became the Group CEO and MD of Domino’s Pizza Enterprises.
Hayman went on to serve as operations director for the UK-listed Domino’s Pizza Group and the franchisee of 14 Domino’s Pizza stores across the US.
“When I returned to Australia, I was coming home in more ways than one; I grew up in this business and worked alongside so many team members who are now some of our most successful and longest-serving franchise partners,” Hayman said in a statement.
“My experience as a team member, in operations, and as multi-store owner, has fostered enormous empathy for the rewards and challenges that are an essential part of this business. I believe it has also helped me build credibility with our franchise partners, store managers and team members and now, in this more public facing role, I hope to build that same rapport with our customers, and our shareholders.”
“Over the past year our customers have told us our product quality and service has never been better. But our team never rests and – with the new products we will be launching combined with an ongoing focus on product quality and value – I can’t wait to show what we can deliver.”
Domino’s Chairman Jack Cowin said he is confident that the company have the right leadership for the future. “With Kerri’s appointment, [she is] the best person for the job,” he said.
“The Board of Directors are thrilled that Domino’s provides an unrivalled opportunity to help team members grow and prosper, whether it’s a part time job, as an award-winning franchise partner, an executive – or all three.”
In her role as COO, Hayman established the Women in Domino’s grant which supports seven young female store managers to become franchise partners. The program will expand to assist female store managers learn entrepreneurial skills.
