Dr Kimberley Clayfield’s win for women in science and engineering

Dr Kimberley Clayfield took home the gong for Emerging Leader in the Public and Not-For-Profit sector at the NAB Women’s Agenda Leadership Awards.

She is the executive manager of Space Sciences and Technology at CSRIO and played a key role in the process leading to the four-year, $40 million Australian Space Research Program.

The win surprised Clayfield, whose voice shook as she explained her surprise and delight at the recognition of her work and women in science and engineering. Women represent less than 10% of the national engineering workforce.

“I’d like to thank my employer the CSIRO for allowing me to achieve so much in my career so far. Thank you also to Women’s Agenda for recognising me and recognising women in science and engineering.”

Clayfield congratulated the other finalists Layne Beachley from Aim for the Stars Foundation, Natalie Collard from Australian Dairy Farmers Limited, Claire Mallinson from Amnesty International Australia, Natalie Isaacs from 1 Million Women, and Jane Hunt from Fitted for Work. “I think they’re all an outstanding group of women.”
