Britain has a brand new political party ready to take on the general election in May. It’s name? Justice for Men and Boys (and the women who love them). (yes, the party’s name actually includes a parenthetical phrase).
The leader of the party is Mike Buchanan, an ex-Conservative Party member who left the party’s ranks when Prime Minister David Cameron announced he would support an all-women parliamentary candidate shortlist. He decided this push towards gender equality in politics meant he needed to create his own party to combat it. Buchanan is a self-described anti-feminist.
Buchanan is so committed to being an anti-feminist that he has written three books about it (Including ‘The Real Reasons More Women Don’t Reach Senior Positions’ and ‘Feminism: The Ugly Truth’) as well as established his own anti-feminist political party.
He says feminists “hate men” and that feminism is “vile”. He also believes that “fatherhood is being systematically removed from society” and “taxpayers are subsidising sperm banks for single women and lesbians”.
The party formed in order to challenge a government that is “anti-male” and “insane”. Buchanan wants to return power to men and boys by “pointing out that women are not these divine creatures”.
“Men are stripped out of their families and become walking wallets because that suits the state. It’s a very well documented feminist objective of 40 years to destroy the nuclear family. You only need to go back to Germaine Greer’s book [The Female Eunuch, 1970] and women like Harriet Harman and Patricia Hewitt have been doing it ever since. Oh, God they hate men,” he said.
Buchanan says he sees bias against men in every part of life – parenthood, mental health services, employment, education and even the criminal justice system. He thinks that the concept of domestic violence has an intrinsic bias against men, because he says men are just as likely to be victims of it but aren’t offered help or support.
“Men are more likely to than women to die as a consequence of intimate partner violence,” the party’s manifesto says.
It doesn’t need restating that statistically this is not true. Neither is his belief that “advancing the careers of women” equals “holding back the careers of men”, or his idea that encouraging women to enter STEM careers is cutting off lucrative career options for men despite the fact that “women have for decades expressed little interest” in these career pathways.
In case that’s not enough, here are some other things the manifesto argues for: abolishing the Equality Act, awarding pensions to men earlier than women because they work harder, getting rid of female teachers in schools and refusing to appoint women to company directorships and other senior roles. It also compares feminists to Nazis.
The scariest part is that Justice for Men and Boys is putting forward three candidates in the general election in May. One of these candidates will run against the incumbent Shadow Minister for Women, Gloria De Piero.
We don’t envy De Piero for having to go head to head with these fanatics, but let’s hope that common sense prevails and the landslide she defeats them with is so heavy they never come out from underneath it ever again.
