There’s one woman on the Abbott Government frontbench, and according to a new poll out today she’s also our most popular minister.
McNair Ingenuity Research has placed Foreign Minister Julie Bishop at the top of its latest scorecard with her popularity growing 13 points to a score of 58, and Joe Hockey at the bottom of the list, dropping 15 points to just 32.
The latest research compares the popularity of members of Abbott’s inner ministry to the results they received in December 2013. It asks 1000 voters to rate the frontbenchers on a scale of one to 100, with 100 being excellent, 75 being good, 50 being average, 25 being poor and 0 being terrible. The average score for all 19 frontbenchers was 33, putting it somewhere between the ‘poor’ and ‘average’ categories.
Bishop’s score of 72 puts her just short of the good ‘category’ but still well ahead of the next leader Malcolm Turnbull with 51. Scott Morrison saw an uptick, jumping from 39 to 45 and Christopher Pyne landed one point up on 36. Kevin Andrews, Mathias Cormann and George Brandis also joined Hockey in seeing their scores decline.
What do you think of the results? Who’s your most popular frontbencher?
