Olivia Rodrigo donates all profits from Philippines concert to local women’s charity

American pop star Olivia Rodrigo has donated all profits from her biggest ever live performance to a women’s organisation in the Philippines.

The 21-year-old performer, known for her hits “vampire” and “good 4 u”, is into the eighth month of her GUTS World Tour, wrapping up her stay in the Philippines with a performance at the Philippine Arena in Manila on Saturday.

It was a special show for Rodrigo, who is half Filipina. Posting on Instagram, she told her fans she had “been dreaming of this show for a whileeeee. my first time in the Philippines and also my biggest venue ever!”

Throughout her world tour, portions of profits from ticket sales have gone to Rodrigo’s charity initiative, fund 4 good, which is committed to championing girls’ education, supporting reproductive rights and preventing gender-based violence across more than 35 different countries.

But Rodrigo announced that all net profits from Saturday’s concert in Manila will be donated to Jhpiego, a Philippines-based women’s organisation her charity has partnered with.

“I got to visit the organisation while I was in Manila,” she wrote on Instagram, “and was so impressed by the work they are doing providing healthcare to women and girls in the Philippines.

“It was the most special show and the most meaningful trip. to say I’m grateful doesn’t even cut it! Mahal kita.”

Jhpiego thanked Rodrigo for her support of the organisation. “We are beyond honored to be the nonprofit #oliviarodrigo chose to support during her first visit to the Philippines,” the organisation wrote on social media.

“Her generosity and commitment to women’s health will make a lasting impact. Together, we’re helping more young women and girls access the care and support they need!”

Rodrigo’s fund 4 good has partnered with charities all over the world throughout the GUTS World Tour. In the US, she worked with local branches of the National Network of Abortion Funds, where women’s reproductive rights are limited in parts of the country.

At a concert in St Louis, Missouri in March this year, Rodrigo gave out free condoms and morning-after pills to the crowd. In Missouri, abortion is illegal except in cases of medical emergencies.

The Canadian leg of the tour saw Rodrigo supporting more than 600 women’s shelters in 16 provinces and territories in the country, partnering with Women’s Shelters Canada.

When Rodrigo toured in Europe, she worked with Women Against Violence Europe (WAVE), a network that operates in 46 different European countries to prevent violence against women and children.

Rodrigo’s show in the Philippines was the last in Asia before she brings the GUTS World Tour to Australia.
