Matildas legend Sam Kerr and her partner Kristie Mewis have announced the birth of their baby boy, named Jagger Mewis-Kerr.

The couple shared the exciting news to Instagram on Thursday, writing: “Our little man is here, Jagger Mewis-Kerr.”

The post shows a photo of the pair snuggling their little boy and smiling, with the comment section flooding in well wishes and congratulations.

Kerr’s fellow matildas all chimed in, with Mary Fowler saying “so beautiful”, Caitilin Ford writing “precious boy” and Mackenzie Arnold writing “cutest family ever”.

Many sporting organisations also gave Kerr their congratulations, including the Australian Olympic Team’s official account and the National Women’s Soccer League.

The Matildas official account joined in on the celebration as well, resharing Kerr’s photo and writing: Welcome to the Tillies fam, Jagger! 💚💛Congratulations to mums Sam and Kristie on the arrival of their beautiful baby boy!”

Kerr, 31, has been in a relationship with Mewis, 34, since 2021, and the pair got engaged in 2023.

Mewis, an American professional football player, was spotted by fans wearing what looked to be an engagement ring. The football power couple then revealed their engagement later in an interview with People magazine.

Kerr has captained the Australian national women’s soccer team since 2019.

A month ago, Football Australia announced Kerr will be eligible to return as Matildas captain once she recovers from her ACL injury.

The Football Australia board met to discuss Kerr’s recent court case in the UK, where she was found not guilty of one charge of racially aggravated harassment of a police officer. In its review, the board concluded that Kerr’s acceptance of responsibility for the event and her acknowledgement of the far-reaching implications of her off field actions were sufficient and warranted no further sanctions.

“I’m focused on doing my part to ensure we grow even stronger together, and I look forward to having the opportunity of rejoining the team once I’m fit and ready,” Kerr said.
