Pregnant Noongar woman Dianne Miller dies after attack at shopping centre

A pregnant Noongar woman has died in a Perth hospital after allegedly being attacked with a piece of concrete in an altercation at shopping centre.

According to a report from NITV News, Dianne Miller, 30, was struck unconscious and suffered a heart attack after a 17-year-old allegedly threw a piece on concrete at the car she was in with her partner and child.

Miller was transported from the carpark at Waterford Plaza Shopping Centre to hospital after by-standers attempted CPR.

She and her unborn baby passed away on Thursday afternoon, her brother Malcolm Clifton confirmed to NITV News.

Miller is the mother of an eight-month-old baby. Her family said they were “destroyed”.

Her brother described her as “one of a kind” and a good-hearted person.

“It will be alleged during the altercation, the 17-year-old male threw a rock at the vehicle, which went through the open front passenger-side window, hitting a 30-year-old pregnant woman in the head and causing her to go into cardiac arrest,” police said in a statement on Wednesday.

Western Australia Premier Mark McGowan said it was very tragic.

“It’s very, very sad for her and her unborn child. It’s one of those things that it’s just beyond description, that this could happen to someone,” he said.
