Where the ladies at: Can you spot the women at the leadership conference?

It’s no secret that women have been historically underrepresented in key leadership roles across the globe.

And taking a look at the delegates to the B20 Summit currently taking place in Sydney, it seems we’ve got a way to go before women have the opportunity to contribute on an equal basis to men.

As we know, a picture tells a thousand words. And we think the following images highlight the awkward truth when it comes to the lack of gender diversity at forums where key decisions are being made affecting men and WOMEN across the globe.

Spot the women at the G20 summit in St Petersburg (hint: they’re wearing colour just to make sure they’re highly visible)

Even the Prime Minister couldn’t seem to find his women at the recent business summit in Asia, searching fruitlessly for female delegates for a photo op. We’ve been asking where your ladies are at for awhile now, Tony.

At the 2014 Global Summit of Women, a six male panel discusses how to increase women’s economic empowerment. Of course, only a panel of men can fix this problem (although Slate does point out that this was a panel of CEOs across different industries,  discussing how recruiting and fostering female talent can drive a company’s financial success, it would have been nice to get the women involved.)

This picture’s from 2012, when world leaders attended the G20 Seoul Summit and Australia was at least doing its part to promote gender diversity in key leadership positions.
