She’s already proved herself as a cool and wise supporter of women with her online network, Amy Poehler’s Smart Girls, and she’ll no doubt have plenty more advice to dispense for young women in her upcoming literary debut, Yes Please.
Amy Poehler — actress, producer and comedian extraordinaire — has offered a strong view on the exhausting question of, “Can woman be funny?” and she’ll bring her original twist to her upcoming book, previously described by the Dey Street Books as: “An illustrated, non-linear diary full of humor and honesty and brimming with true stories, fictional anecdotes and life lessons, the book will be a unique and engaging experience from one of today’s most talented and beloved stars.” And HarperCollins, which owns the pop-culture imprint Dey Street books, said in a statement last year that the book was, “Inspired in part by Poehler’s interest in helping young women navigate the adult world.”
Although, we’ve still got a while to go until the October 28th release date to read her advice on topics like friendship, parenting, love and career, we don’t have to wait any longer to see the front cover.
Here’s the first glimpse of her cover of Yes Please:
And if you’re curious as to what you can expect from Poehler’s literary debut, she’s previously shared one of the book’s essays “Take Your Licks” with the New Yorker last year, channeling her humour and wit into a story that takes an amusing and insightful look into her first job as an ice-cream scooper when she was 17, and shares the satisfaction in knowing when it’s time to call it quits.
Poehler’s memoir will join a line-up of books by other funny-women who have taken their turns penning memoir/self-help tomes, including Mindy Kaling and Poehler’s former SNL buddy and sometimes film co-star, Tina Fey.
