Thousands of people are expected to attend vigils today in honour of the life of Cassius Turvey. The vigils, being held across the country, are calling for #JusticeForCassius, who was only 15 years old.
Turvey was walking home from school on 13th October with his friends in Perth, when he was allegedly viciously attacked with a metal pole. His head injuries from the alleged attack were so severe he was placed in an induced coma after having two strokes and a brain bleed.
He died on Sunday 23rd October, 10 days after the alleged attack, and a 21-year-old man from Middle Swan has been charged with murder.
Cassius’ mother, Noongar-Yamatji woman Mechelle Turvey, told ABC Perth her son was a “vibrant, caring, jokester with a beautiful smile”.
Wednesday 2nd November is a National Day of Action for Cassius Turvey, with vigils and actions being held in different parts of the country.
