The Women’s Medal Tally following Day 9 of the 2024 Paris Olympics

Women's Medal Tally on Day 9

USA is in the lead on the Women’s Medal Tally after Day 9 of competition at the Paris Olympics, followed by China and Australia.

Ukraine now has two golds on the list, with Yaroslava Mahuchikh taking gold in the high jump, while her team mate Iryna Gerashchenko, took bronze.

Earlier, Ukraine took gold in the fencing sabre team event.

Mahuchikh received a standing ovation for her win from the massive crowd packed into the athletics stadium, with Australian Nicola Olyslagers taking silver in the event, and Eleanor Patterson sharing bronze with Iryna Gerashchenko.

It was the first time two Australian women have shared the podium in an athletics event.

Algeria is also on the tally after taking gold on the uneven bars in gymnastics.

On Day 8, Saint Lucia entered the tally following Julien Alfred’s epic win in the women’s 100m final. She is the first Olympic medallist from the small island Caribbean nation, which has a population of just 180,000 people.

The Women’s Medal Tally offers a twist on the standard country medal tallies shared during the Olympics.

Australia remains in fourth place on the general medal tally with 12 golds. The USA leads on the total gold count, followed by China and France.

The Women’s Medal Tally is presented by Women’s Agenda to offer a different take on the standard medal tallies shared during the Olympics.

It calculates all medals won by women across the team and individual women’s events as well as the mixed-gender events.

With this tally, we’re not only learning more about the unique stories of women winning medals, including so far women from Ukraine and Kosovo, but we also hope to highlight differences in how countries are faring when it comes to the general medal count and the women’s medal county.

The tally is updated daily, and features permanently here and below.
