Rosie O'Donnell undeterred by more threats from Donald Trump

Rosie O’Donnell undeterred as Donald Trump threatens to revoke her US citizenship

Comedian Rosie O’Donnell has responded to renewed threats from Donald Trump to take away her birthright citizenship.

A long time critic of Trump, O’Donnell was undeterred as she told him his “gold lamé throne is melting” and referenced the ongoing push for the Trump administration to release all the information in files related to the deceased convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

“banishing me again? logan roy would be proud. im the distraction – EPSTEIN SURVIVORS are the reckoning and your gold lamé throne is melting. only rosie o’donnell ❤️,” she wrote to her 1.1 million followers.

Her namedrop of “Logan Roy” refers to the character on the show Succession, who represents a fictional version of media mogul Rubert Murdoch.

Her post includes a screenshot of Trump’s threat on Truth Social, which had a seemingly distorted image of her face and read: “As previously mentioned, we are giving serious thought to taking away Rosie O’Donnell’s Citizenship. She is not a Great American and is, in my opinion, incapable of being so!”

In a follow-up post, she shared a selfie, writing: “donnie – stripping my citizenship? cute – the capital is shaking because Epstein survivors are speaking – i volunteer as tribute… to remind you how terrified you are. 😘”

This is not the first time Trump has threatened O’Donnell, who was born in New York state.

She moved to Ireland after Trump was re-elected as president, saying she believed she could be a better mother in Ireland than in the US under Trump. On TikTok she wrote that the US “got sad and scary” and that she knew she had to move to take care of her non-binary Austistic child.

“The way that people marginalise and attack the Trans community, especially politically, is unfathomable to me, and so unbearably cruel,” she said.

Two months ago, O’Donnell  posted a TikTok video mourning the deaths of at least 129 people in the July 4 floods in Texas, blaming Trump’s widespread cuts to environmental agencies involved in predicting major natural disasters.

Trump responded to this by posting to Truth Social, saying “because of the fact that Rosie O’Donnell is not in the best interests of our Great Country, I am giving serious consideration to taking away her Citizenship.”

“She is a Threat to Humanity, and should remain in the wonderful Country of Ireland, if they want her. GOD BLESS AMERICA!” Trump wrote in July.

Trump and O’Donnell’s feud has come in and out of the media headlines, beginning back in the comedian’s early days on the panel of ABC’s The View talk show.

O’Donnell cohosted the show from 2006 to 2007 and again from 2014 to 2015. It’s where she infamously mocked the idea of Trump as “the moral authority” during a 2006 episode, referencing the multiple children he shares with different women.

Following O’Donnell’s most recent response to Trump’s citizenship threats, she also posted a clip of her upcoming 60 Minutes Australia episode, which will air this week, on 7 September and address “why Rosie O’Donnell and Donald Trump can’t stand each other”.
