In this keynote, Professor Madhu Bhaskaran discusses the critical role diversity plays in the design and development of technology, emphasising that innovation thrives when teams are diverse. She explains how decisions made by homogenous groups often result in technology that overlooks or inadequately addresses the needs of underrepresented populations, thereby limiting its effectiveness and inclusivity.
She shares examples from her own work in electronics engineering, where diverse perspectives led to more effective, customised solutions, such as skin sensors tailored to different skin types.
