Australia’s top 10 employers for graduates

new grads

A tech company with gender-based hiring quotas is Australia’s best employer for graduates, according to the latest survey of more than 2500 graduates by the Australian Association of Graduate Employers (AAGE).

Software provider Thoughtworks Australia took out the top spot on the list of 75 employers. It’s a company with more than 3000 staff, 30 offices worldwide and a diverse leadership team.

It has a strict 50/50 ratio for hiring male and female staff across its graduate program locally, and achieved a gender split across all areas of the business in 2012.

The 20 year old company declares it was founded on a “social experiment” of determining what happens if you “hire really smart, passionate people and set them loose on really tough problems.”

Graduates cited some of the benefits of working there as being the “impressive maternity leave”, the company culture, the challenging projects, the freedom on offer, and the icecream fridge.

As voted by grads, the full top 10 included:

1. ThoughtWorks Australia
2. Department of Mines and Petroleum (WA)
