Man charged with murder after woman and two young children found dead in Sydney

NSW

A 47-year-old man has been charged with three counts of murder after the bodies of a woman and two children were found inside a home in Sydney’s south-west.

Police were called to a home in Campbelltown on Monday night at about 7.50pm, where officers found the bodies of a 46-year-old woman and two boys, aged four and 12, inside the home.

On Tuesday, the man was charged with three counts of domestic violence murder. He has been refused bail to appear in Campbelltown Local Court today. Police confirmed the women and children were the man’s wife and children.

Act Supt Michael Moroney told the media it was a “particularly violent crime scene”, with the victims found in various areas of the home.

“I can’t give you specific information regards to how they passed, what I can tell you is all three persons sustained significant injuries and it was a particularly violent crime scene,” he said.

The man was not known to police, Moroney said, and there were no firearms in the house.

“We’re not aware of any interactions with this male before and certainly not aware of any domestic-related incidents previously reported to police,” he said.

“But I can reassure the public that domestic violence is the number one priority for the New South Wales Police and we will continue to prioritise DV offenders.”

According to Sherele Moody’s Australian Femicide Watch, the woman is the 29th Australian woman killed this year. The children are the 8th and 9th killed in 2026.

Australia’s crisis of men’s violence against women and children has been brough into focus again this week, with five women and two children killed in the past six days.

Recent figures released by the Australian Bureau of Statistics show the number of offenders proceeded against by police for family and domestic violence rose by 8 per cent, or over 7,000 offenders, in the past year.

A crime scene has been set up in Campbelltown and the man will appear in Campbelltown local court later on Tuesday.
