Donald Trump issues warning to US soccer star Megan Rapinoe

Megan Rapinoe
Based on his Twitter feed it seems that Donald Trump, from time to time, forgets that he’s no longer the star of a reality program in which he can hire and fire at will and command the attention and obedience of everyone, everywhere,

Certainly some of his attempts are successful – he does hire and fire at will and does his darndest to ensure everyone – in any room – follows whichever misspelt, misnamed, mispronounced orders he chooses to bark, most often on Twitter.

And so it is that overnight the US President came to reprimand US soccer player Megan Rapinoe who has been busily kicking up a storm at the World Cup in France. He warned her not to ‘disrespect’ America.

Naturally his first tweet was directed at the wrong account but he was not deterred. He deleted that and started again.

Surely the boss of The Apprentice can weigh in whenever he chooses to send out warnings to contestants (all citizens)?

The reason Rapinoe caught Trump’s wrath on this occasion was presumably a video circulating on social media in which she said if the US side win the World Cup she would not visit the White House.

The Guardian reports that the clip was filmed before the World Cup commenced but after scoring two goals on Monday night it seems Rapinoe & the clip caught the attention of the Boss. And he wasn’t happy.

The athlete, who has been vocal and unambiguous about her attitudes towards the President and issues of social justice, wouldn’t be the first to decline an invitation to the big house in Washington.

Since Trump took the keys several successful sporting teams, and individuals, have skipped the option to visit the President in his official abode after significant victories.

Rapinoe’s teammate Ali Krieger tweeted in support of Rapinoe’s position and said she would also ‘sit out’ any visit.

Like Trump’s lack of shame, his pettiness knows no end.
