Short skirts and bare legs? Part of the job working for John Laws

He admires the female figure, he says.

He likes them to wear skirts, he adds.

And if equal opportunity people come knocking, he’ll tell them to get lost.

He really does belong in another era.

Broadcaster John Laws has further proven his dinosaur status by telling Steve Price on The Project last night that he can still get away with some of the things “he got away with in the 70s, 80s and 90s” and that he continues to demand that female staff wear skirts to work.

“I can… [and] they all wear skirts,” he said, adding that “he who pays the piper calls the tune.”

But it’s really all just because Laws really loves women. “It has been one of the great downfalls in life.”

“I love to talk to them, I’d much rather talk to them than a bunch of blokes and I love them to look feminine.

“And to me a skirt on a beautiful body is a very, very feminine thing.”

Yes, it was also news to us that John Laws is actually still on the air. The 81-year-old Laws says he plans on working “until I die”.

Proudly wearing her pants on air last night, The Project’s co-host Carrier Bickmore said it was lucky Steve Price was doing the interview and not her. “Because there was a bit in the middle of that interview that I reckon would have gone slightly differently.”
