Already Leaned In? Now it’s time to tell us what you’d do if you weren’t afraid

She’s had a go at revolutionising the mindset of corporate women by asking them to “lean in”, and now Sheryl Sandberg’s going after young grads, asking college students to tell her what they would do if they “weren’t afraid”.

A new video and accompanying tumblr website launched by the Lean In campaign is targeting recent college graduates, with the tagline: By the time they graduate from college, more men than women see themselves as leaders. Lean In asked women to answer the question: What would you do if you weren’t afraid?

And the Facebook COO whose corporate feminist manifesto is enjoying its 10th week on the New York Times bestseller list is again imploring young women (and men) to ‘lean in’ to overcome the insecurities that hold them back from their ambitions.

“When little girls lead, they’re called bossy. Over time, children internalise these messages” the video says.

In a post on Huffington Post, Sandberg says the new campaign aims to highlight the ingrained societal messages about women in in the workplace that lower expectations and impact future careers.

“Female college students have lower pay expectations than their male peers. Just a few years out of college, more men than women aspire to reach managerial levels. And even before women enter the workforce, they are often worrying about balancing future careers and families.

“A truly equal world would be one where women ran half our countries and companies and men ran half our homes.”

Tell us, what would you do for your career if you weren’t afraid?
