Anita Jacoby: Why my success would surprise my former teachers

Anita Jacoby is one of Australia’s leading TV executive producers, having built her career in commercial television producing for 60 Minutes, Sunday, Laws and Witness. She is the former head of production and executive producer at Zapruder’s Other Films, the company that she oversaw with Andrew Denton.

To make a  career out of something I love doing, especially if it involved ideas and creativity.

Some of my former teachers at the  girl’s school where I was expelled from at the start of 4th form (year 10) for being a pretty adventurous and difficult 15 year old determined to push the boundaries.

People who dedicate their lives to the welfare of others and those who are creative, artistic
and not afraid to be an individual.

Courage, intelligence, passion and humour.

By helping instill the belief that anything is possible and gender is irrelevant if you can do the job well.

Never compromise who you are and the ideals you believe in.
And remember in creative industries, computers will never replace people who are enthusiastic and brimming with ideas.

Taking time out to dream and swimming in the ocean.

Love, close friendship and anything to do with the beauty of nature.

Loss, injustice and greed. The thought of dying with regrets.

Be Yourself. Everyone else is taken.
