Biochemistry, because I loved science.

… and as a little girl, what did you imagine working life to be like?
I had no idea. I found the whole concept daunting.

How have women helped shape your success to date?

Who inspires you?
Gillard, Wong, Plibersek, Macklin, Roxon and from when I was young, Susan Ryan, Joan Kirner.

What is the best path to success in your field of endeavor?
Being strong in your beliefs and build a strategy around achieving your vision and then set about implementing and delivering. Don’t waver, even if it takes time and you endure setbacks.

How would you describe your ideal work day?
Challenging and diverse. I work best under a reasonable level of stress, and I like a bit everything in a day. Keeps me on my toes.

What’s the key to successfully balancing work and life?
Put life first: family, fitness and find time for some fun. I am best at work when things are good at home anyway. That said, it is always a compromise. I am grateful to my family for understanding the demands.

If you had an afternoon to yourself, how would you spend it?
9 holes

What makes you happy?
Love and giving. Adrenalin- inducing sport 🙂
Communities with spirit and optimism.

What brings you sadness?
Children who are suffering, neglected, abused.

What personal attributes have you used to overcome adversity in your life?
I am perennially optimistic. I am brave. I learn quickly. I never give up. And I bluntly assess my strengths and weaknesses and leverage and compensate.

What are your career goals from here?
I would like to achieve my vision in each of my portfolios for sport, multiculturalism and for IT In Australia.

What book/film/artist/soundtrack changed your life?
Neal Stephenson, futurist writer.

What’s your motto?
from Ghandi… Be the change you want to see.
