They’re messy but worth it: 3 beauty products to use now

After a long and sometimes lax winter when it comes to beauty, it’s time to get down to the beauty jobs you try to ignore until it’s just too hard to keep your head in the sand. Time to buckle up, and get down to the less glam, but no less essential, parts of your beauty routine…

Mud Masks

A little messy, but with a lot of benefits, mud masks should be a regular in your routine (try at least every 3 weeks). They help to clear the skin of blockages deep within, drawing them out ripe for exfoliation and disposal. Skipped it recently? Spring is the perfect time to mask up again, helping to remove dead skin cells and prep for buffing up to achieve that spring glow. Try the Cellilux Glacial Mineral Gel (which is really a mud consistency) and contains negatively charged ions to balance out oils in the skin – fancy, right? To avoid extra mess, try applying with a brush (a clean foundation brush is ideal). Just be sure to wash afterwards to avoid bristles cemented together.

Fake tanning

If you’re anything like me, you’ll avoid fake tanning like the plague – not because of the potential results, but because of the hassle. Who wants to stand around in their birthday suits waiting for faux tan to dry? Not to mention the frequently streaky aftermath. But the fake stuff is obviously the only sensible route to looking bronze. The best thing to do? Make the whole process a whole lot easier, and reach for an instant tanner with a spray nozzle. The applicator means a lot less rubbing with hands, to not only avoid streaks but also orange hands the next day at work and choosing an instant tan formulation means you’ll get a good gauge of how bronzed your bod will be during application – no nasty post-tan surprises. The Reef Beach Glow Instant Tan Spray in Bronze, ticks all of the boxes.

Foot care

It might take a lot of convincing yourself to do, but once the results are in, it’s so worth it… I’m talking about pretty feet that you aren’t afraid to hide. But first, there are a few things that really need to be addressed before you pick your pretty polish colour, like the gorgeous ButterLONDON polishes.

First off, reach for a callous exfoliator. It’ll gently buff away dead skin and keep heels crack free, so you won’t have to be ashamed of slipping into your favourite pair of heels. Then make sure to moisturize.

Constant friction and pressure on your heels are also the reason to blame for cracks and dryness. So if you are going to be wearing your pumps, or less-than-comfortable shoes this spring (because let’s be honest; the pretty ones are always the less comfy ones!) be sure to enlist a gel cushion in the bottom of each shoe.

Which areas of your beauty routine do you avoid? Don’t you think it’s true that the parts of your beauty routine you most avoid yield the best results once you do them?
