Women can’t host TV shows! Kitty Flanagan takes on Ten’s all male lineup

Kitty Flanagan has taken on Channel Ten’s all-male line-up in a brilliant sketch on ABC’s The Weekly.

The piece comes in response to Ten revealing earlier this week that eight men will front the lineup of the shows it’ll be testing in its upcoming ‘pilot week’.

The sketch features a Ten executive expressing concern over the all-male lineup, saying “how bad it’s going to look in today’s climate”. He urges Kitty to do a show.

But Kitty’s having none of it, because a woman hosting a show is a precedent that hasn’t been tested.

And it’s pilot week! Not the time to get all crazy and innovative and take the kind of risks that would involve have a woman front a show!

“Men are good at television, because they get to do it all the time!” Kitty says.

She also takes aim at the ABC, rattling off the long list of men who’re fronting television shows on the network. “They know what works,” she says.

Then she offers her husband to the Ten executive, despite the fact he’s not a comedian. “He’s a man, he’ll know what to do!”

The roasting has been shared extensively across social media, with some urging networks to give her a weekly or nightly show.
