Tricks to keep your makeup long lasting

Getting makeup to last is always a top beauty priority. But once summer (and forty degree days) hit, this primping priority is taken to the next level.

So, with this in mind, here are my two best tips for getting your makeup to outlast a hot and inevitably sweaty day.

Prime

Using a primer is a must if you want your makeup to last and last. Primers help to increase the longevity of your base products by creating a nice, smooth layer on top of the skin, avoiding foundation ‘sinking in’, or sliding around with perspiration. A couple of hot tips are to pick a lightweight formula for summer, and to be sure to thoroughly cleanse your skin at night, to make sure you remove it all – after all, primer will really help your makeup hang around, so you need to remember to remove it! Try the Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Primer, which contains Chamomile extract to also add hydration to skin.

Apply a few minutes after your moisturiser, and wait a few minutes before applying your foundation.

Airbrush

Once you’ve applied your makeup – even your bronzer, and eye shadow – you can incorporate an airbrush makeup setting spray to literally set it all in place. They are weightless, and often colourless sprays that freeze your makeup to your face. I love the Australian brand, ModelCo’s Beauty Fix Airbrush Face, which also adds a hint of luminosity to your complexion for a healthy glow.
