The top five nail colours for winter

Painting your digits to perfection can give you a real beauty kick – especially if you sit typing at your desk all day. A flash of red across the keys, or a pretty pink poised above your mouse is a nice way to add a little colour to your work attire and brighten a dreary winter day.

Here are the top 5 colours for winter, from one of my favourite lacquer brands, Butter London, totally appropriate for the office and beyond.

Pale Pink – Butter London Pink Ribbon Lacquer
Pale pink is so versatile. Not only can it be totally corporate, it looks flattering on all skin tones, from very pale to very dark. Try this feminine shade from Butter London. Two coats will achieve the same shade as in the bottle, on your tips.

Bold red – Butter London Macbeth lacquer
Red polish is one of the most popular shades around, so mix it up a little with a touch of coral. This shade sings next to pale or creamy complexions and looks great on toes too. Try to spice up an all-black ensemble.

Apricot nude – Butter London Tea with the Queen Lacquer
This nude-tan colour is a little more daring than your usual pale pink. Best for ladies with olive or darker skin, to really make it pop. Also, looks great with yellow or rose gold jewellery.

Ox Blood – Butter London La Moss Lacquer
Definitely dark and a little daring, this deep ox-blood shade is on-trend for winter. To avoid looking too ‘gothic’, keep your nails short and filed into a squ-oval shape (something in between a square and an oval – straight tops, with slightly rounded edges).

Dusty, mauve rose – Butter London Toff Lacquer
The purple tones may look a little OTT for the office, but paired back with a neutral work wardrobe palette (think camels, nudes, greys and creams) this polish will add a touch of spring colour, albeit a little more muted for the chilly season.
